Graduate School Office of Well-Being

Leadership Institute

Workshops

Teaching & Instructional Development
Lunch & Learn Sessions
In these sessions, Graduate Teaching Assistants share their knowledge about teaching, teaching and technology tools as well as discuss research of teaching, book chapters relevant to work in an instructional setting. These workshops can be found at grad.msu.edu/calendar.
Graduate Teaching Assistant Program
The Instructional Development team provides orientation and professional development opportunities to graduate teaching assistants so they can thrive in their role. Resources and information, including registration to become a GTA can be found at grad.msu.edu/gtap.
Certification in College Teaching
This certification helps graduate students and postdocs organize, develop, and document their teaching experiences. Participants will prepare for college and university teaching. Learn more at grad.msu.edu/CCTP.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
AGEP
MSU AGEP supports underrepresented U. S. minorities in doctoral programs of the natural and social sciences, mathematics, and engineering. Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society
The purpose of this society is to recognize outstanding scholarly achievement and promote diversity and excellence in doctoral education and the professoriate. Membership into the Bouchet Graduate Honor Society is by nomination only. Learn more at grad.msu.edu/bouchet.
Funding/Financial Support
The Graduate School provides numerous different types of funding and financial support for graduate students.
Assistantships
Teaching and research assistantships include a stipend, tuition waiver, and health insurance. Recipients are assigned to a faculty adviser who supervises the experience. Learn more at https://grad.msu.edu/assistantships.
Fellowships
Fellowships support graduate study. Most are awarded by colleges, graduate programs, or outside funding agencies. Unlike assistantships, they do not have required instruction or research responsibilities. Learn more at https://grad.msu.edu/fellowships.
