Theresa Murphy is a 2nd year PhD student studying Higher Adult and Lifelong Education. This is her second year in the PhD Career Advisor Role. She is broadly interested in the transition out of the university and the supports the university can provide during that process. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and English from Marquette University and her master’s degrees from Trinity College Dublin (Irish Literature) and Loyola University Chicago (Higher Education).

Theresa previously worked in international education and faculty support in Chicagoland universities, as well as a stint as an elementary school teacher. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, editing, binging the latest TV show, playing board games and trivia with her friends, attending Friday night dinners with her cousins and Sister Suppers with her younger sister, and traveling (she’s been to 49 states and 30 countries!).

“I aim to support students in every step of the job application process, from resumes and cover letters to mock interviews and everything in between. Whether meeting one-on-one or hosting workshops, my goal is to help you recognize the skills you already have and tailor them to the job you want. If you feel more confident in your job search after visiting our office, I’ve done a job I’m proud of.”
