Summer Research Opportunities Program

(SROP)

The Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) is a gateway to graduate education at Big Ten Academic Alliance universities. 

SROP helps prepare undergraduates for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and enrichment activities. 

MSU SROP typically convenes the third weekend of May and ends the last weekend of July. This program is open to all.

Benefits

  • Gives participants an opportunity to combine professional development with work experience in their career fields.
  • Gives Michigan State University faculty the opportunity to evaluate participants as candidates for graduate education.
  • Provides participants with a generous stipend for the summer, along with free room and board and paid travel to and from East Lansing.
  • Provides local and regional opportunities for participants to present their research.
