MSU BEST is designed to prepare doctoral students and postdocs for careers outside of academia, including areas like industry, business, and government.

BEST offers student participants intensive and supportive mentoring, professional development experiences, and specialized professional experiences to enhance traditional training to help students develop the skills and experiences they will need to succeed in a variety of work environments.

The MSU BEST Program is supported by the National Institute of Health and their Broadening Experiences in Scientific Training program. MSU is one of 17 campuses with a BEST grant, and the campuses coordinate via the BEST Consortium. As partner institutions, we work together to amplify the impact of our grant efforts, coordinate resources, and share best practices.
