GROW provides opportunities for graduate and professional students to build skills to better address the challenges of graduate school that impact their well-being

GROW facilitates and promotes wholistic student success through:

  • Workshops on stress management, imposterism, burnout, etc.
  • Leadership Fellows Program – Fellows implement change-oriented projects that improve the well-being of the graduate student community.
  • Community Groups, e.g. Dissertation Support Groups
  • Connecting students to relevant offices/programs on campus

Upcoming Events/Resources at MSU for Graduate Students

  • Graduate School Resource Fair. Saturday, August 24 from 10-12 in the Union Ballroom. Over 40 campus partners interested in serving graduate students. Good swag.
  • COGS Welcome Event. Saturday. Saturday, August 24 from 12-3 in Benefactors Plaza. Learn more about the Council of Graduate Students and eat a free lunch. Family friendly.
  • Gender and Sexuality Campus Center Grad Student Welcome. Saturday, August 24 at 3:30-5:00 in the STEM building, room 2130. Meet other queer and trans grad students and learn about how the GSCC can support you.

Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS)

How to access services:

  1. In crisis: call CAPS (517) 355-8270 and press 1 to talk to a crisis counselor ANY time
  2. Not in crisis: go to CAPS website and click on the “Schedule Now” button. Fill out a very brief survey and schedule your intake appointment.
    • Zoom/in-person therapy and psychiatry sessions for students in Michigan
    • Referral coordination to community mental health providers
    • Support groups (some just for grad students, most open to grad students)
