Graduate Students
The Office of Faculty and Academic Staff Development (FASD) is an integral office located with the Office of the Provost. FASD works with all faculty, academic staff, and academic administrators at Michigan State University as they join the university, establish professional trajectories, and move through various stages of review, promotion, and growth. We offer and/or collaborate on a variety of structured workshops and small group opportunities throughout the year. We are seeking a creative and innovative graduate student to help with data collection and benchmarking in support of our current work portfolio, as well as conducting landscape analysis to inform proposals related to MSU’s Strategic Plan.
Assistantship Requirements
- Enrollment in a graduate program at MSU (preference given to those in higher education, student affairs, or similar fields.)
- Excellent English writing and verbal skills
- Self- starter with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work alone or in a remote team environment, using a personal computer and appropriate software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
Responsibilities
- Assist with collecting, organizing, and evaluating data.
- Gather, catalog, prepare and update resources in support of FASD programs and initiatives.
- Coordinate and collect data to create inventory of current programming offerings
- Benchmarking both internal and external programs related to faculty/academic staff and academic leadership development.
- Assist with communications to our various stakeholders, including report preparation and data visualization, resource sharing, and basic website editing.
- Assist other staff with programs as time and interest allows.
- Other duties as required consistent with the above responsibilities and duties.
This half-time assistantship will require 20 hours per week and comes with a stipend, tuition reimbursement, and health insurance. Work hours are typically spread across weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Some work will be done in person (e.g. support, staff meetings), and some of the work can be done remotely. The position runs from August 15, 2023 through May 15, 2024.
