Attention:
Graduate Program Directors, Graduate Program Assistants
Dear Graduate Program Directors and Assistants:
We are pleased to announce a new campus-wide Current Graduate Student (CGS) survey focused on capturing the experience of current graduate students at MSU. The CGS survey replaces the gradSERU survey that was administered in 2017 (only doctoral students) and 2021 (master’s and doctoral students). The survey is scheduled to be distributed every fall semester, from the middle of November thru the beginning of the spring Semester.
The goals of the CGS survey include the following:
-
Gauge experiences of graduate, certificate, and professional students on an annual basis in a manner that is both respectful of their time and sensitive to the confidentiality of their responses.
-
Provide Survey results in aggregated form to programs for Strategic Program Assessment (SPA) purposes facilitating continuous improvement efforts of graduate programs.
-
Reinforce positive experiences and outcomes for students, such as retention, completion and placement.
To help ensure the CGS survey meets its goals, we ask for your help in advertising this survey to students in your program(s). Attached is a draft announcement that you might share with your program’s students. Beyond updating the highlighted text, feel free to edit before sharing with your students. To fill in the academic year you are scheduled to next undertake SPA, please consult this spreadsheet.
We estimate it will take students roughly 30 minutes to complete the survey. Also, each student will receive an email invitation from Dr. Ifeoma Iyioke that contains a unique link to the Qualtrics survey to facilitate tracking and targeted reminders to those that have not completed the survey, so we cannot provide you with a generic link to the survey.
If you have any questions or concerns about the CGS survey, please email Dr. Ifeoma Iyioke (CGSsurvey@grd.msu.edu), the responsible survey administrator at the Graduate School.
