Mark Balawender is an RCAH Fellow at Michigan State University. He is studying philosophy, with an emphasis on peace and justice studies. His RCAH work included a project to develop a program to allow undergraduate students to run philosophical discussions with middle school students in the community. He plans to adopt the teaching and pedagogy discussions he had in his fellowship program to a future career in education at a liberal arts college. His major professor in Dick Peterson, PhD, and his faculty mentor is Steven Esquith, PhD, Dean of the Residential College in Arts & Humanities. Prior to coming to MSU, Mark received a BA in physics from Wabash College in 2003.
