Will Cicola is a student in the doctorate of musical arts program, majoring in clarinet performance. With a program that emphasizes performance, Will spends the majority of his academic time practicing and preparing for performances and recordings. He’s enjoyed the opportunities he’s had to perform in different ensembles and to work as a graduate assistant in the clarinet studio. He looks forward to the fact that working as a professional will allow him to make a difference in the local community and the broader music community. He describes his future in teaching clarinet at a university level as “the kind of path where you find a place and you make everything that you can of it.” Prior to coming to MSU, Will received a BA in clarinet performance and music education from Ithaca College in 2006 and an MA in clarinet performance from Miami University of Ohio in 2009.
