Doctoral Students
Background
This fellowship will allow a graduate student to gain research experience in the healthcare data analytics field. The student will work closely with an international nurse researcher, Dr. Fabrice Mowbray, the inaugural Director of the Data Center in the College of Nursing. This fellowship will include working with different analytic software to assist with the Director’s ongoing secondary analyses and other big data projects, in utilizing, evaluating, and interpreting data and statistical analytics (inferential and predictive). The fellowship will also include dissemination of this research via publications, presentations, and other work deemed appropriate by the supervisor. This fellowship, which can be done remotely, involves a commitment to work 10 hours per week with the College of Nursing faculty.
Eligibility
- MSU doctoral student in good standing who will be enrolled in the Fall of 2024 and Spring of 2025.
- Doctoral student with data management and analytics knowledge interested in learning about and increasing their ability to work in healthcare data analytics (e.g., electronic medical records).
- The candidate must be able to code in R.

The nurse scientist supervising this position and potentially other faculty and team members will review your submitted information. We may also ask for letters of recommendation and examples of prior published analytics.
Funding of the Award
The award amount for September 15, 2024, to May 15, 2025, is $12,000. (Because that date has already passed, the hours in that time frame will be rolled into the remaining months of the fellowship, as determined by you and your supervisor.)
