New Format:

Hosted by the Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation (CTLI), the conference will be held over the course of two non-consecutive days. The first day, which will be entirely online, is intentionally scheduled to better accommodate student participation. We welcome submissions that include student co-presenters or that elevate student voices. The second day, which will be entirely in-person, stands distinct from day one and will feature a different selection of sessions. Each day of the conference will have a pedagogy track and an educational technologies track, and each day each track emphasizes a specific focus content area. While the conference welcomes submissions on any teaching & learning related topics, we will prioritize submissions focused on the following content areas:

  • Day 1: April 19. 2024: Synchronous, Virtual
  • Pedagogy Focus Content Area: Engagement
  • Educational Technology Focus Content Area: Accessibility
  • Pedagogy Focus Content Area: Assessment
  • Educational Technology Focus Content Area: Generative AI
  • Day 2: May 1, 2024: In-person, Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center

In the pedagogy track, all types of submissions are welcome. Submissions that are focused on the content area of engagement will be given priority for day 1 (online only) time slots; submissions focused on the content area of assessment will be given priority for day 2 (in-person) time slots.

In the educational technologies track, all types of submissions are welcome. Submissions that are focused on the content area of accessibility will be given priority for day 1 (online only) time slots; submissions focused on the content area of generative AI will be given priority for day 2 (in-person) time slots.

Session Formats:

As in past years, we welcome session proposals in a variety of formats. All session format types will be available on both days of the conference:

  • Educator Talk (15 minutes): A presentation related to teaching & learning; educator talks can include sharing practices, successes, failures, and things you’ve tried at MSU.
  • Panel (50 minutes): An organized session of 3 or more short talks on a related topic. These sessions may highlight different outcomes of similar practices, comparisons of different approaches to a common problem, or multiple applications of a common tool or practice. Make one submission with each talk’s presenter(s) as co-presenters.
  • Workshop (50 minutes): Designed with active learning and attendee participation and engagement in mind, these sessions focus on demonstrating tools or practices found to be successful in a learning environment.
  • Welcome to my Classroom (50 minutes): A session that replicates educators’ classroom environment for an immersive demonstration of their teaching practices.
  • Roundtable Discussion (50 minutes): An organized session prioritizing conversation with each other and the conference audience in which multiple presenters discuss a topic related to teaching & learning.
  • Poster: A physical or virtual poster describing a teaching & learning practice. Displayed at a designated poster session on each day.
