Graduate Departments

International graduate applicants should make every effort to request official, hardcopies of their latest or final postsecondary transcripts and diplomas to be mailed to MSU in official/sealed envelopes. In cases where colleges and universities are closed or operating in a limited capacity due to COVID (or other reasons), and applicants cannot request official hardcopy documents, units may reach out to Patrick Leahy, international credential analyst, for advice. Cases that require online or email verification, Patrick will do the research to determine next steps and, if necessary, verify electronic scans of transcripts via email or via online websites. Graduate units should keep track of each case that is sent for verification, and follow up by looking in Image Now, Slate, or contacting the Office of Admissions or Patrick to determine if we received verification. Keep in mind online/email verification can be slow and time intensive. The Office of Admissions, nor Patrick, have the capacity to keep track of each case that is pending verification, so please be sure to follow up to ensure smooth admissions processing.
