Virtual Advisor Functions Overview training session

Attention Advisors:

We invite you to register for a virtual Advisor Functions Overview training session, which will be offered separately for undergraduate and graduate staff, to learn more about advising functions in the new Student Information System.

Before you attend a training session, please first complete the self-paced course: Campus Solutions General Training and review the Student Center Overview Job Aid available here.

After attending the Advisor Functions Overview training session, users will be able to:

  • Recognize the components of a student’s Degree Audit
  • Understand how to view milestones, student groups, and career, program, plan (CPP) stacks
  • Demonstrate how students will add classes to their shopping cart and use the planner functionality

The following sessions have been reserved for graduate staff:

  • Thursday, Dec. 10, 9 a.m. – noon
  • Monday, Dec. 14, 1 – 4 p.m.

Register for a session here.

The number of participants for each session is limited, so please register early to get your preferred date. Due to the remote nature of the training, the session will be demonstrative, and we do not expect participants to follow along in Campus Solutions (CS). However, the CS training environment will soon be available to help users become more familiar with functionality. More information about accessing the training environment will be shared when it is available.

In addition to the virtual training sessions, there will be self-paced courses available with similar content, which can be used as a replacement or supplement to the live course. The self-enroll link for these courses will be available at sis.msu.edu/training by Dec. 11, 2020.

Important note: Based on your security role, you may already have login access to the new SIS; however, some functions will be inaccessible until Jan. 11, 2021.

If you have trouble accessing the D2L courses or any of the materials at sis.msu.edu, please contact Shelly Bellinger at sb@msu.edu.

Questions related to the functionality covered in these sessions can be directed to Deb Dotterer at dotterer@msu.edu or Traci Gulick at gulickt2@msu.edu.
