Updates to the Grad Milestone Assignment Process

ATTENTION:

Graduate Program Assistants, Graduate Program Directors

There have been recent changes to milestones in the GRAD career.

Milestone changes

In consultation with the Graduate School, we have decided to permanently change the name of two milestones:

  • GGUIDCHAIR has been replaced with GGUIDCHARM (for master's programs) or GGUIDCHARD (for doctoral programs) so that we can differentiate between the masters and doctoral levels

  • GFINALEXAM has been replaced with GTHESISDEF (for master's programs) or GDISSDEF (for doctoral programs)

If an active student had either GGUIDCHAIR or GFINALEXAM on their record, it was systematically changed to the newer version on the student's most recent effective dated row.

Mass assigning of Milestones

On 3/3/23 a batch process was run to mass assign graduate students any needed milestones that were missing from their record. Although not every program uses all of these milestones, by and large the following milestones were assigned to the following populations of students:

    • GTHESISDIR
    • GTHESISDEF
  • Master's Plan B
    • GFINALEVAL
  • PHD
    • GGUIDCHARD
    • GCOMPEXAM
    • GDISSDEF
    • GDISSERDIR
    • GDISSERT
    • GFORLANG (for Rhetoric and Writing, History, and Hispanic Cultural Studies ONLY)
    • GFORLAN2 (for History and Hispanic Cultural Studies ONLY)
  • DNP
    • GNRPJPROP
    • GNRPJADVR
    • GNRPROJECT
  • OSTEO

    • GOSTEOMED

Recoding of degree audits

Where applicable, we have recoded degree audit requirements to only look for the new set of milestones, so GFINALEXAM and GGUIDCHAIR will no longer be used or needed to fulfill degree audit requirements.
