The Office of Bioscience Postdoctoral Affairs at UCLA invites you to apply to UCLA Bio-Launch, a recruitment initiative for bioscience researchers. This program includes professional development workshops, networking opportunities, and a faculty matching service.

2-Day Virtual Event (February 27 & 28, 2025)*:

*All times listed below are in Pacific Standard Time (PST) and all events are hosted on Zoom.

  • Thursday, February 27, 2025
    • 9:00-9:45 am – Welcome & Overview of UCLA Postdoc Experience
    • 10:00-11:30 am – Workshop: Defining Your Success & Thinking Big Picture
    • 1:00-2:00 pm – Panel: “Ask a UCLA Faculty Member”
  • Friday. February 28, 2025
    • 9:00-10:00 am – Panel: “Ask a UCLA Postdoc”
    • 10:15-11:30 am – Workshop: Effective Informational Interviewing & Networking
    • 1:00-2:30 pm – Networking with Faculty

 

Matching Process:

  • We will ask you to identify 5 potential faculty members you're interested in meeting from our list of Bio-Launch Mentors. At the end of all scheduled virtual events, we will match you with 1-5 Bio-Launch mentors. 
  • All Bio-Launch mentors are UCLA Faculty and many of them are currently recruiting postdocs for their labs.
  • Informational Interviews take place March 3-14, 2025.

 

Application Process:

  • Application Deadline: Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 11:59pm PST
  • As part of the application process, you will be asked to provide basic information about yourself and your research interests. You will also be asked to upload your CV. 
  • No recommendation letters are required.
  • Decisions will be sent out early February 2025.
  • Note: Acceptance into the program does not guarantee a postdoc position.

 

Eligibility:

  • You must fall into one of these three categories:
    • Advanced PhD student (will graduate in the next 12-18 months)
    • Recent PhD graduate (graduated in the last 1-2 years)
    • Early-career postdoc scholar (have no more than 1 year of postdoctoral experience in a Bioscience field)
  • Prospective postdocs from groups traditionally marginalized in the biosciences and/or from disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • There is no citizenship requirement to apply.
