Southeast Michigan Postdoctoral Symposium, 10/6/18

This symposium aims to facilitate sharing research between trainees and explore alternative career options such as science policy.  We've recently extended our abstract submission to allow more postdocs and grad students participate in the poster session and 3 minute oral presentations.  Both sessions have a competition connected with monetary prizes.

Different sessions allow for career exploration in science policy, women and minorities in science, and how international sciences fit into the political climate.  Our keynote speaker, Shaughnessy Naughton, is the President and Founder of the group 314 action.  Her goal is to help scientists learn about the political election process and how to get involved in influencing policy by getting involved.  She has helped many scientists navigate the election trail and become successfully elected at different levels in government.  She will be speaking about how we, as scientists, fit into the current political climate and give an overview of the election process.

Registration: $15
