Science Communication Training for Faculty, Postdocs, and Graduate Students

WHAT IS BEING OFFERED?

A team of experienced science communication training experts working with George Mason University and Stony Brook University are offering free science communication training workshops this spring at Michigan State University.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? 

Any MSU faculty member, post-doctoral researcher, or graduate student is welcome to participate. Please register with your university email.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ASKED TO DO 

  1. Complete a few short surveys about science communication. Additional information will be sent to participants once they register for the study. 
  2. Meet with us virtually to record a short video of you discussing your research or a science topic of your choosing. This recording will be kept confidential. Additional information will be sent to participants once they register for the study. 
  3. Participate in a full-day (8:30 am – 5 p.m.), in-person science communication training workshop on April 3rd, April 4th, April 6th, OR April 7th). Participants will attend training on one of these dates. Additional information will be sent to participants once they register for the study.

  • Workshop Location: Communication Arts and Science Building, MSU (TBC)

BENEFITS PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE 

The workshop will provide an immersive experience whereby participants will learn how to communicate with audiences about the value and importance of their work as well as science more generally. Participants will also receive financial compensation for participating.
