Hiring: Research Assistant - College of Nursing

ATTENTION:

Doctoral Students

Dr. Gwen Wyatt is looking to hire a doctoral student during Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 (position information attached). Fall 2025 would be 10 hours per week, paid hourly (no tuition or health insurance). Spring 2026 would then be a ¼ time (which is 10 hours per week) assistantship (covers tuition and health insurance).

RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE:

  1. Primary responsibility. General office duties related to supporting FEA, including:
    1. Support faculty with administrative and secretarial tasks
    2. Renew professional organization memberships
    3. Book conference registrations and accommodations
    4. Process conference travel requests and reimbursements through Concur
    5. Maintain and update productivity documents (i.e., Bio-sketch, CV, annual reports)
    6. Prepare annual FEA report and monitor budget
    7. Process time sheets for personnel through MSU EBS
    8. Assist with scheduling and booking meetings
    9. Maintain and update online shared drives
    10. Delegate assignments to UG student assistants

The RA will be part of a larger research team and will be expected to participate as a contributing member. Responsibilities as a research team member are:

  1. Various project management assignments including:  
    1. Implement policies and procedures for day-to-day operation of project
    2. Monitor and keep all IRBs current
    3. Assure all personnel are current with IRB training and HIPAA
    4. On-board personnel upon hire
    5. Oversee and monitor various study stages, including enrollment, recruitment, and intervention, and interviews
    6. Counsel with study personnel and community partners at all sites as needed to ensure criteria are followed
    7. Serve as liaison with project sites
    8. Submit weekly report to PIs of study progress
    9. Administrative tasks necessary to assist with overall administration of project
    10. Produce weekly schedule of all staff and distribute to PIs
    11. Facilitate annual grant reports
    12. Produce enrollment grid, CONSORT and SMART flow charts for team meetings
    13. Inform PIs of day-to-day activities
    14. Follow up with study personnel on project updates and progress
    15. Maintain confidential storage of identifiable data
  2. Supporting scholarly products of the research team including:
    1. Perform literature searches
    2. Assist with conference presentations/abstracts, manuscript, and grant applications
    3. Assist with grant submissions

 

Other responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and mentor undergraduate students.
  2. Submit time sheets per university protocol. Be sure that your time sheets are sent to the PIs.
  3. At least two weeks’ notice must be given if planning to leave on vacation. Please notify the PI and be sure that there is someone to fill in for you.
  4. If you have difficulty with equipment, notify the study office as soon as possible.
