Graduate Students
The AOD Program Graduate Student Employee will join a dynamic team committed to improving the health and wellbeing of students, faculty, and staff. Health Promotion aims to challenge the health attitudes, behaviors, and perceptions of the MSU community with a data-driven approach focused on education, harm reduction, and environmental management.
The graduate student employee will support the development and implementation of initiatives aimed at reducing the harms of alcohol and other drug use on campus so students can succeed personally and academically. This position will engage in a variety of innovative health promotion practices relating to alcohol and other drugs.
This position provides valuable public health/health promotion experience giving the student an opportunity to work with others who are passionate about improving the health of our campus community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Health Promotion staff to assist in planning and development of AOD outreach/education programs, initiatives, and resources.
- Implement a variety of initiatives, outreach, and training as part of a comprehensive health promotion prevention strategy, with particular focus on alcohol and other drug related harms on campus.
- Assist in data collection and analyzation related to AOD programming to assess effectiveness. Use findings to make recommendations to department staff.
- Coordinate administrative components of various meetings and events.
- Support communications team by creating AOD resources and social media messaging.
Desired Qualifications:
- Enrollment in graduate program at Michigan State University.
- Strong passion for promoting student health and wellbeing.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
- Knowledge of relevant health and wellbeing resources and services.
- Social media knowledge.
- Prior experience in health promotion, health communication or public health preferred.
Time Commitment: The time commitment for this position will be no more than 10 hours per week.
Compensation: $23.14 Hourly
