The Office of the Board of Trustees is seeking a half-time Graduate Assistant for academic year 2024-2025 . This position will provide essential support to the Secretary and Chief of Staff to the Board of Trustees in policy review, analysis, and development, as well as support special projects and initiatives.
This position is based in East Lansing and will require in-person work with the possibility of arranging some portion of work to be completed remotely with supervisor approval.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Support the development of a process and tracking mechanism for regular reviews and updates to policies and ordinances
- Provide research, analysis, and peer benchmarking to support consideration of potential policy and ordinance revisions
- Liaise with other university offices to ensure coordination and tracking of input and feedback on potential policy and ordinance updates
- Support implementation of a new, standard policy template to ensure consistency in Board policy documents
- When policies or ordinances are updated, identify potentially intersecting and/or impacted additional policies to ensure appropriate correlating updates are made
- Other background research and peer benchmarking projects as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- Background or experience in legal, policy, or research work
- Demonstrated excellent organizational and verbal/written/listening communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations including Trustees, administrators, staff, faculty, and students
- Discretion and good judgment at the highest level
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of structures, policies, and procedures in complex and diverse organizations
- Experience with Microsoft applications and software.
