Hiring: Graduate Assistant - Content Development

The Graduate School is seeking a graduate assistant (research) to assist the Marketing & Communications team with content development. The content development graduate assistant will, under the supervision of the Marketing & Communications Manager, play a key role in conceptualizing, developing, and publishing content on Graduate School social media platforms and the grad.msu.edu website.

They will work closely with representatives of Graduate School departments and programs to identify critical information to share, interview subjects for features, and more.

The ideal candidate will be a doctoral student from the College of Communication Arts & Sciences with writing and graphic design experience and a familiarity with leading social media platforms, though Master’s students will also be considered.

Appointment Details

  • ½ time (20 hours)
  • Level will depend on by university policy - MSU RO: Academic Programs
  • Stipend range: negotiable
  • Start Date : Fall 2024 (August 16 – December 31). Re-appointment will be on a semester-by-semester basis depending on performance.

Tasks/Duties

  • Pulling and processing monthly performance metrics.
  • Writing copy for use on social media, web, and more.
  • Developing minor multimedia pieces, including social graphics and mobile video.
  • Meeting with representatives from Graduate School departments to identify valuable information to share with graduate students.
  • Interviewing fellowship recipients and other graduate students to collect information for use in Graduate School storytelling.
  • Curating an archive of content that can be shared on Graduate School platforms.
