Fall 2023 enrollment appointments have been assigned

ATTENTION:

Graduate Students

Enrollment appointments for Fall 2023 have been assigned!

What is an enrollment appointment?
Your enrollment appointment is the date and time you may begin enrolling for future courses and make updates to your schedule. This can be done online via SIS.
Please note: An enrollment appointment is not an appointment with your academic advisor. An appointment with your advisor is not required to begin enrolling; however, it is encouraged to ensure you are on the right path to your degree.

To view your enrollment appointment information:

  • Log into student.msu.edu.
  • Select “Classes”.
  • Select “Enrollment Dates” in the left navigation.

Explore videos, guides, and FAQs for more information on Class Search, Shopping Cart, Planner tools, and enrollment here.

Enrollment Checklist

  • Check for holds that will prevent registration. Per the hold policy, you will not be allowed to enroll until all holds are removed by the offices that placed them.
    • Holds will display on the “Tasks” tile on your SIS homepage.
  • Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to discuss your class selections before enrolling.
  • Add classes you’d like to enroll in to your “Shopping Cart.”
    • While shopping carts are available to utilize for the entirety of 2023-24, enrollment will only be open for Fall 2023 in March.
    • Adding classes to your shopping cart does not guarantee you are eligible for that class. Follow the steps in this guide to validate your shopping cart in order to confirm eligibility.
    • You will not be able to validate a class that has a prerequisite until you are enrolled in the prerequisite course.
    • Please be mindful when registering that classroom locations may change before the start of the semester.
  • If you are unable to enroll in courses due to certain restrictions, you may request an override from the department teaching the course. Please contact your academic advisor for more details.
  • You can add yourself to a waitlist for classes that are full or have reserved seats.
    • You may add yourself to a waitlist for more than one section of the same course.
    • Once you are enrolled into one section of a class, you will automatically be dropped from the waitlists for the other sections.
    • If there is a time conflict between a class you are waitlisted for and a class you are currently enrolled in, you will be unable to enroll in the waitlisted class until the conflict is resolved.
    • Waitlist capacity can be viewed under the “Availability” tab when viewing the class information in Class Search.
  • Additional course enrollment information can be found here
