COGS Announces 2021-2022 Leadership Change

Message from The Executive Board of the Council of Graduate Students:

On September 7th, 2021 President Shanawar Lone resigned from his position with the Council of Graduate Students in order to focus on his Law and Business studies. The executive board thanks President Lone for his service over the summer and wishes him well on his academic endeavors in these unique circumstances. Following his resignation, the office of the President of COGS will be filled by Sara Hugentobler (hugentob@msu.edu) according to Articles 5.2, 5.7, and 5.8 of the COGS Bylaws in the interim with the unanimous approval of the executive board. We thank Sara for her diligent work over the summer, assisting with Fall Welcome, orientation, and taking up the duties of the president.

Following this succession, the office of the President will be put up for formal nomination at the September 22nd Full Council meeting to be filled pursuant to the procedures outlined in the aforementioned articles of the COGS bylaws. Interim President Sara Hugentobler will be running for this position. At this time, we are accepting other nominees as well for the position of the President, and welcome representatives to contact us at office@cogs.msu.edu or fill out the Presidential Nomination form on the COGS Full Council Teams.

We are grateful for your interest in COGS and our continued mission of promoting the academic, social, and economic goals of graduate and professional students through advocacy, innovative programming, and collaboration with other student organizations and the academic and administrative units of the University.
