Call for Abstracts for COGS 16th Annual Graduate Academic Conference

ATTENTION:

Graduate & Professional Students

The Council of Graduate Students is pleased to announce that the 16th Annual Graduate Academic Conference will take place on March 9, 2024, at the MSU Union. They are now accepting abstracts for poster and oral presentations and applications to present in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Presenter abstracts & registration are due by February 24, 2024.  

The top three oral, poster, and 3MT presentations will each be awarded prizes of $300, $200, and $100, respectively. Also, the 3MT competition winner will compete at the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) 3MT in April 2024. 

Please note that all presenters are required to pay a $5 registration fee. Soon after the abstract submission, participants will receive a confirmation email which will include the link to pay this fee. (Please allow COGS 5-10 business days to respond with this confirmation email). An endorsement letter is needed to complete the registration, a copy of which is attached with this email. The presenters will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, network with peers and alums, get free professional photographs, get free CV/resume reviews, enjoy our keynote luncheon, and more! More information will be provided on additional features of the GAC in future emails and updated on the website!

FAQs: 

  • How do we register as co-presenters? Will we required to submitted separate Abstracts and pay the registration fees separately?
    • If you have co-presenters, please fill out the Conference Registration Form separately to be counted for the workshops, keynote, meal, and more! However, you do not need to fill out a separate Abstract Submission Form or pay the registration fee separately. Only the primary presenter must fill out the Abstract Submission Form and they can pay the registration fee once for the group. 
  • Can I have multiple submissions?
    • Yes! You can enter more than one presentation/category. Please submit a separate Abstract Form for each event or presentation you are submitting. (Include details about registration fees for multiple submissions) 
  • Can I only attend the conference without presenting? How should I proceed?
    • Great – yes! Please fill out the Conference Registration Form so that we have your workshop preference and will count you for the meal, if applicable.
