Job Description: Administrative Fellow


General Summary

The Aspirus Administrative Fellowship is a two-year leadership development program designed to prepare future healthcare leaders. Fellows gain comprehensive exposure to Aspirus’ integrated healthcare system through rotations, meaningful project assignments, and mentorship. The program offers hands-on learning, professional growth opportunities, and direct interaction with senior leadership. With a focus on project-based critical thinking, fellows will contribute to strategic initiatives while refining leadership, analytical, and healthcare management skills. The fellowship is part of Aspirus' leadership development pipeline, designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders.


Responsibilities

  • Onboarding and Rotational Experiences:
    • Participate in onboarding activities led by former fellows, including New Leader Orientation.
    • Meet key leaders across Aspirus to build relationships and select mentors.
    • Shadow business units across Aspirus pillars to gain a broad understanding of system operations.
    • Select rotational experiences aligned with personal interests and career goals, with a focus on strategic priorities.
    • Gain exposure to key business areas such as Operations, Finance, Quality, Patient Experience, and Corporate Functions.
  • Meaningful Project Assignments & Leadership Development:
    • Lead projects that develop analytical, leadership, financial, and healthcare operations skills.
    • Demonstrate attention to detail, consistency, and meet multiple deadlines in a timely manner.
    • Exhibit an understanding of healthcare administration, industry trends, and Aspirus’ organizational structure, mission, vision, and values.
    • Work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Provide data analysis and interpretation to drive organizational and leadership decisions.
    • Act as a self-starter and demonstrate willingness to take on new and challenging leadership roles, as well as non-leadership projects and deliverables.
    • Build effective healthcare management skills and collaborate with administrative, physician, and clinical leaders.
    • Develop additional aspects of the fellowship to strengthen preparedness for future operational assignments.
  • Interim Placement & Transition Planning:
    • Transition into interim leadership roles aligned with prior rotations and project work.
    • Collaborate with mentors and BTx leadership to plan long-term career paths and next steps within the organization.
    • Assist in recruiting the next fellowship cohort through webinars and university outreach.
  • Ambassadorship & Outreach:
    • Represent Aspirus at recruitment events, including outreach to MBA/MHA programs and professional associations.
    • Support efforts to recruit future fellows, participate in presentations (e.g., ACHE Leader Development), and promote the fellowship at key events.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field is required upon hire (ideal candidates will be in their final year of an accredited graduate program).
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience in healthcare, including internships, is preferred.
    • Demonstrated leadership through community involvement or professional associations is encouraged.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical, communication, and project management abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Self-motivated, with the ability to take on challenging roles and deliver results.
    • Capable of working independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

Program Highlights

  • Executive Sponsorship and Mentorship: Fellows will work under the direct sponsorship of an executive leader and have access to a wide range of mentorship opportunities with both senior and mid-level leaders.
  • Leadership Development and Exposure: Fellows will participate in a structured leadership development curriculum, including rotational experiences that provide exposure to Aspirus Health Plan, Aspirus Network, and other key operational units.
