Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education and Academic Writing Symposium

ATTENTION:

Faculty

MSU’s APUE STEM Ed @ State, Enhanced Digital Learning Initiative (EDLI), Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation (CTLI), MSU Libraries, and MSU IT EdTech invite you to attend a late-breaking special symposium considering AI in Education and Academic Writing. This symposium will occur Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 12-5 p.m. in the STEM Building Generator Room (2110). Spots are limited to 100 participants and we encourage participants to attend the entire event. See below for details and registration link.

Description:

Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) open opportunities for the public to generate novel text and images using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT). Many in education are concerned with what this means for assessing student understanding: if a student can generate a novel and accurate essay on almost any topic, how will you assess learning from short-answer and essay assignments? In this symposium, you will be presented with the basics of how AI works, play with some AI tools, hear how other faculty are addressing these challenges, discuss concerns and opportunities with colleagues, and consider how your teaching can evolve in the time of artificial intelligence (AI). See full schedule of events here.
