Julie Ramisch received a University Distinguished Fellowship to study human development & family studies at Michigan State
University. Her fellowship allowed her the time to conduct research and collaborate with others in her field of interest. She
researched aspects of families of children with autism to find ways that they can be better supported. She wants to help families
“work together to stay together,” particularly in the case of families with children with disabilities. Her research was conducted
with her major professor, Esther Onaga, PhD. Prior to coming to MSU, Julie received a BS with honors in psychology from Westmont
College in 2005, and an MS in child development and family studies (specializing in marriage & family theraphy) from Purdue
University - Calumet in 2008.
