How to be more employable in the Private Sector- A 2-Day Workshop for Graduate Students and Post Docs with Dr. David Giltner

Date:
Tuesday, March 14, 2023 - 9:00am to 5:00pm
Location:
B122/124 Henry Center for Executive Development, 3535 Forest Rd, Lansing, MI 48910

Would you like to know how to be more employable in the private sector? Most of us who complete a PhD in a science discipline will end up working outside of academia. What is working in the private sector is really like? How do you find these jobs? Do you feel confident that you can impress an industry hiring manager when you describe the very specialized research project you just spent years pursuing? And what kinds of jobs can a scientist get in a company anyway? This workshop helps you with these questions and many more about the exciting world that awaits scientists in the private sector!

In this 2-day workshop, David Giltner will work with a small group of graduate students and post docs to explore what it means to be a scientist working in industry, and support students as they explore their next steps and develop a plan for finding the career of their dreams.

Please note: space is limited, and selected participants are expected to participate fully in both days of the workshop.  Lunch and snacks provided both days.
