Community-Engaged Scholarship Writing Retreat

Date:
Thursday, October 17, 2019 - 7:20pm to Friday, October 18, 2019 - 7:20pm
Location:
PIERCE CEDAR CREEK INSTITUTE, HASTINGS, MI

Audience:
Faculty, Academic Staff, and Graduate students

This academic writing retreat provides a dedicated time and space away from campus for faculty, academic staff, and graduate students to write about their community-engaged scholarship, including service-learning or civic engagement, community-engaged research, broader impacts, outreach teaching, and community partnerships.

This two-day, residential retreat includes unstructured writing time to work on your own writing and optional workshops to strengthen writing and academic publishing skills. Throughout the retreat, consultants from The Writing Center and University Outreach and Engagement are available to provide feedback as needed.

Participants are expected to already have a community-engaged scholarship writing project, and to bring their own laptop, power cord, and writing materials. Attendance both days is required. Participants should come prepared to focus their time and attention on their writing.

Cost:
$260 for MSU faculty, academic staff, and graduate students
$360 for non-MSU participants, who are very welcome to attend
