Date:
Thursday, May 7, 2020 - 8:45am to Friday, May 8, 2020 - 4:55pm
Location:
MSU Union (Ballroom) 49 Abbot Rd, East Lansing, MI 48824

The Graduate School invites you to an intensive program that will help fulfill the workshop portion of the requirements for the MSU CCTP.  Over the course of two days, featured speakers will focus on teaching with technology, assessing student learning outcomes, creating effective learning environments through writing, and developing teaching portfolios for different kinds of academic institutions. Through a combination of interactive group sessions and focused breakouts, you will gain skills in core competency areas of the Certification, plan a mentored teaching project, and develop the template for your final portfolio. You will also learn about resources available to support your professional development in teaching from other units at Michigan State, including the Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives, the Academic Advancement Network and the Hub for Innovation in Learning and Technology

The Certification is designed for doctoral students and postdocs preparing to become faculty members in a college or university. The CCTP culminates in the preparation of an e-portfolio that will help participants prepare for academic job interviews and plan for their professional development as early career faculty. Doctoral students who successfully complete all requirements will receive a designation of the Certification on their MSU transcript; postdocs receive a letter from the provost recognizing their completion of the CCTP. For more details about the certificate program, go to: https://grad.msu.edu/CCTP.

Registration is REQUIRED. There will be a $20 materials charge for the institute; your registration will not be processed until the fee is received by the Graduate School. Payment instructions will be provided in a confirmation email you will receive after you submit your registration. Once we receive the workshop fee, we will email you indicating that you have a spot reserved for the workshop selected. Unfortunately, if you cancel for any reason, we will be unable to refund your fee. Persons with disabilities should contact the Graduate School at 517-353-3220 to request accommodations no later than two weeks prior to the session date.
