Craig Merow is a doctoral student studying bioethics and philosophy at MSU. The University Distinguished Fellowship made it possible for him to relocate from his home in Pennsylvania to East Lansing. He hopes that his background in teaching and his philosophy studies will enable him to serve as a bridge between the two communities, encouraging the teaching of philosophy to secondary students to help them develop critical thinking skills and other beneficial life skills. He is studying under professor Fred Gifford, PhD.

Prior to coming to MSU, Craig received the following degrees:
BA, Temple University, (1973) Geology
MEd, Temple University, (1975) Science Education
EdD, (Honoris Causa) (1990) Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal (Lima, Peru)
BA, University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, (2006) Philosophy
MBE (Master of Bioethics), University of Pennsylvania, (2009) Bioethics
