This year, the Graduate School is facilitating the Future Academic Scholars in Teaching (FAST) Institute or FASTI.
This institute is for doctoral students with interests in teaching, learning, and assessment in higher education who ultimately are interested in pursuing academic careers. The goals of the program are to:
- guide participants through developing a focused evidence-based teaching-as-research (TAR) project (and appropriate formative and summative assessments) based on challenges students may face in a respective discipline for later implementation in the “classroom”
- engage in discussions and activities on how to be competitive for the academic job search process. The planned TAR project could later be used for partial completion of MSU’s Certification in College Teaching.
Interested doctoral students must be available for in-person sessions on: Oct 1, 15, 22, and 29 from 9 - 10:30 a.m. in Room 110 Chittenden Hall.
To apply for the institute, please fill out and submit the short application by September 24 at 5 p.m. The institute will be limited to 30 participants. Students will be notified on September 25.
