Registration Open: Graduate Teaching Assistant Orientation

2026-2027

Summary

Registration for the 2026-27 Graduate Teaching Assistant Orientation and Preparation Program is open starting NOW!

Registration Deadline: Thursday, July 30

Attention Graduate Teaching Assistants! Registration for the GTA Fall Orientation and Preparation Program is open! Whether you are a new, international, or a returning Graduate Teaching Assistant, the Graduate Teaching Assistant Program (GTAP) offers sessions that provide policy training required of everyone and sessions to make you more effective in your teaching, including resources and professional development opportunities.

The program will be delivered virtually and in-person with both synchronous and asynchronous components. All GTAs are strongly encouraged to attend and need to register before July 30, 2026, to receive all materials and to be able to access all relevant modules on the Learning Management System D2L.

Again, the GTAP link above will give everyone a brief introduction to the GTA Program and includes all the individual links to the components described below.

All New International GTAs

All new International GTAs (starting in the Fall Semester 2026 or Spring Semester 2027) should also attend:

  • the International GTA Orientation on August 19, 2026
  • the New GTA Institute on August 20, 2026
  • and the Pedagogy Workshops on August 27, 2026.
All New GTAs

All new GTAs (domestic and international, starting in the Fall Semester 2026 or Spring Semester 2027) should attend:

  • the New GTA Institute on August 20, 2026
  • and the Pedagogy Workshops on August 27, 2026.
All GTAs

All GTAs (new and returning) are encouraged to attend the Pedagogy Workshops on August 27, 2026, which will include best practices in teaching, use of technology tools, and culturally relevant pedagogy among other topics, and some will count toward the Certification in College Teaching.

We encourage all GTAs to also complete this form to let us know what pedagogy workshops they are interested in for future planning: GTA Workshop Topics.

In addition, GTAs (new and returning) may join the GREAT office’s GTA Virtual Lunch & Learns and in-person workshops, some are offered over the summer, and can be found here.

Registration is required.
