Summary

Award: US $85K per year (up to 2 years) towards education costs (tuition and fees), living expenses, travel, and personal equipment (effective from 2025 for new recipients) 
Eligibility: Doctoral students in computer science and related fields
Pre-screening Deadline: Wednesday, April 8 at 8 a.m.

MSU may nominate up to 4 students for the Google Ph.D. Fellowship.

The Google Ph.D. Fellowship Program was created to recognize outstanding graduate students doing exceptional and innovative research in areas relevant to computer science and related fields. 

Fellowships support promising Ph.D. candidates of all backgrounds who seek to influence the future of technology. Google's mission is to foster inclusive research communities and encourages people of diverse backgrounds to apply.

How to Apply

Students who can prepare a full nomination packet by April 20, 2026 should ask their advisor to complete the pre-screening form by 8 a.m. on April 8, 2026

Based on pre-screening, finalists within MSU will be notified on April 13, 2026, and their full nomination packets are due at 8 a.m. on April 20, 2026. The pre-screening form requires a short version of the full nomination packet.
