Summary

The Office for Graduate Educator Advancement and Teaching (GREAT) is holding a summer program for new and returning graduate teaching assistants. 

The following sessions are designed to help prepare graduate teaching assistants for their roles as educators. Registration is required to attend each event.

International GTA Orientation

  • Date: Wednesday, August 19 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Location: STEM Teaching Learning Facility Room 2130 

This program is for all international GTAs who are GTAs for the first time at MSU.

New GTA Institute

  • Date: Thursday, August 20 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Location: Zoom

This program is for all new GTAs and helps learn about various GTA roles, addresses policies related to teaching, student success at MSU, communication and boundary setting to get any new GTA started at MSU.

Pedagogy Workshops

  • Date: Thursday, August 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Location: STEM Teaching Learning Facility, Rooms 2130 and 2202

These workshops are focused on the teaching essentials for GTAs, including learning and assessment, using technology tools and create accessible course content, creating welcoming and inclusive learning environments, using evidence-based teaching strategies for labs, recitations, and classroom work.
