Submit Science Today Content

ORESD students from all fields (social and natural sciences) are welcomed to submit a research brief. This submission should serve as a brief synthesis of your research and must appeal to a broad audience.

The final publication will be available online and limited copies will be available in print.

Submission Deadline: November 15, 2026
Editorial Feedback Provided: January 15, 2027
Final Submission Deadline: January 30, 2027
Publication Date: March 2027

Should be between 500 and 750 words
Be written to a broad audience and appeal to non-researchers/scientists, as well as individuals from differing fields
Provide a research synthesis that integrates a large body of research
Must be approved by your advisor
Must receive verification by all necessary parties that your brief does not violate any publication/copywrite concerns (e.g., submissions based on work previously published in other venues)

Introductions

Title, Authors, Department
Key Words: List at least 2 (no more than 6) key words that are associated with your work (i.e. stem cells, memory, discourse, education)
Objective: State your research question and/or hypotheses
Relevant literature and/or theoretical framework(s)

Methods

Describe the problem
Discuss the methods used in the study (i.e. content analysis or regression)
Include the stage of your research and what projects you have remaining (if your work is not yet completed)

Analysis & Results

Briefly describe your analysis and the associated results
If you have yet to complete your analysis, please discuss what you anticipate
Address any limitations within your analysis

Future Work

Include where you would like to go with your research (i.e. next steps).

Broader Implications

The impact your research has broader social impacts.

In Summary

Your Brief Must Include:

The objective of the work
The main research question
The methods and analysis used to test the research question
The results, including limitations, the significance, and possible avenues for future research
At least 2 sources and no more than 5
