MSU Postdoctoral Excellence in Research Award

Postdoctoral Excellence in Research Award (PERA)

The MSU Postdoctoral Association and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies (OVPRGS) award annually the Postdoctoral Excellence in Research Award (PERA) to two exceptional Postdoctoral Researchers for their contributions to MSU and the greater research community.

The applicant:

1) Currently works at MSU as a postdoc (e.g., Research Associate, Postdoctoral Fellow).

2) Has been employed at MSU as a postdoc for at least one year, but not more than 5 years.

3) Has displayed excellence in scientific research, which will be measured by (1) the significance/impact of their research to their field of study, and (2) innovation of their research.

The application deadline is Friday, February 21, 2020 at 5:00pm EST.

PERA applications will be scored by members of the MSU Postdoctoral Association Steering Committee and last year's recipients according to an evaluation rubric (link here), and awardee recommendations will be made to the OVPRGS.

Note: The review committee is composed of postdocs from various fields of study. Make sure the information provided in your application can be understood by a lay audience. We recommend limiting the use of terminology specific to your field.

The top two applicants will each receive a $1,000 cash award, a plaque and certificate provided by the OVPRGS and the MSU Postdoctoral Office to recognize their achievement.

A reception shall be held in May 2020 for recipients to accept their award and give a brief (10 min) presentation of their work.

Applicants must complete the Application Portal (link here), and have their PI submit their evaluations via the Recommendation Portal independently (link here).
