Facilitators will moderate discussion around student identities and how they interact/connect to the classroom experience. Participants will critically engage with their own identities as a starting point to develop awareness of student identities in the classroom. Facilitators hope to promote 1) the idea of the intersectionality of identities that a single student embodies, and 2) the idea of the intersectionality of a myriad of identities from all of the students that are present in a given learning environment. Various student identities and their intersections will be discussed in order to explore best practices in creating anti-oppressive classrooms and optimizing student learning.
