The Graduate School will be offering an orientation session for graduate program directors/coordinators from 8:30-12:15 on Friday September 9, 2016 in 110 Chittenden Hall. The first part of the orientation is intended primarily for those new to their positions. It will provide an introduction to responsibilities of the role of the graduate program director from the perspective of the Graduate School, and a hands-on problem-solving session. We will highlight real issues that typically come to our office, with interactive discussions about how they might be handled at the department level, and how disciplinary differences impact the choices and options you might have in dealing with them.
The second part will be for all graduate programs directors, including a reminder of important policies and procedures, update on new items, info about the GradPlan transition, and an overview of funding.
The orientation will be facilitated by Interim Dean Judith Stoddart and Associate Deans Rique Campa, Pero Dagbovie, and Tony Nunez, all of whom served as graduate program directors in their departments.
