Dr. Budd Hall is co-chair of UNESCO’s CBRSRHE and professor of community development at the University of Victoria, Canada. He was the founding director of the Office of Community Based Research and former dean of education at the University of Victoria. He has served as the director of research to the National Institute of Adult Education in Tanzania, the secretary general of the International Council for Adult Education, and the chair of Adult Education and Community Development at the University of Toronto. He has worked with Rajesh Tandon since 1978, when they collaborated in the creation of the International Participatory Research Network. He is a member of the Adult Education International Hall of Fame, holds an honorary doctorate from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, and has both an undergraduate degree in political science and a master’s degree in education from Michigan State University. His most recent books are Strengthening Community University Research Partnerships: Global Perspectives (with Rajesh Tandon and Crystal Tremblay) and Training the Next Generation of Community Based Researchers (with Rajesh Tandon, Walter Lepore and Wafa Singh). He is also a poet.
