This workshop is for MSU faculty members.
Are you a faculty member that is either new to MSU or new to advising doctoral students or postdocs? Or a graduate program director looking for better strategies for facilitating graduate student and faculty relationships and for MSU resources to complement the career and professional development offerings in your department?
Please join the Graduate School and AAN on January 27, 2017 for a conversation with colleagues about how to utilize resources at MSU and elsewhere to help your students and postdocs to become successful professionals. Throughout the morning and over lunch, you will participate in facilitated discussions on a variety of topics including: strategies for managing expectations with mentees and advisees; tips from distinguished MSU faculty on how they have navigated the institution, solved challenging situations, and become more effective advisors; resources and strategies for promoting responsible conduct of research practices and meeting the university RCR requirements; information on Graduate School programs and resources that provide support for your students’ and postdocs’ career development and can be used in creating professional development plans for training grants.
To register, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and department. Deadline for registration is Friday, Jan. 20.
