Title: "Alt-Ac" and "Post-Ac" Careers in the Humanities: Navigating a Shifting Landscape
Date: 11/18/2014 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
Description: "Alternative-academic" and "post-academic" career trajectories have lately become the topic of a significant amount of institutional academic discourse. This session will provide a foundational guide to the current discussions regarding careers for humanists working outside of the professoriate. Session participants can expect to gain a practical understanding of the rhetoric regarding alternative vocations and the development of expanded/updated professional development practices. We'll explore a broad range of potential career options and discuss steps graduate students in the Humanities and the Humanistic Social Sciences can take –– while still engaged in their doctoral training –– to maximize their post degree career.
