Description: This workshop will highlight the historical basis for human research protections and how to obtain institutional approval for the conduct of such research. Institutional approval is granted for only those projects that can demonstrate an understanding of ethical research practices (concern for vulnerable populations, obtaining informed consent, maintaining confidentiality, etc.) and how these will be achieved through a specific written plan.
