Title: Using Social Media to Promote Student Learning
Date: 9/25/2013 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Fee: None
Description: Social media tools have become ubiquitous and we have come to rely upon them to build community and connect us with colleagues, friends, families, and ideas. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to ways that social media tools can be used no not just build community, but also more effectively develop curriculum and assess student learning in the classes they teach. Participants will be introduced to the pedagogical assumptions that need to be made in order to not use social media in a peripheral way in the classroom, but in a way that student learning is substantially enhanced. Participants will walk away with some concrete ideas and confidence to undertake experiments in their classrooms.
