Travel
For Credit or Research Abroad
Any student traveling abroad for credit must apply through the Office of Study Abroad (http://ntweb11.ais.msu.edu/osa_db/overview.htm), regardless of whether they are undergraduate or graduate students. This process will automatically enroll you in MSU’s comprehensive international accident & sickness insurance coverage through Highway to Health (HTH) Worldwide (http://studyabroad.msu.edu/studenthandbk/health_issues/health_insurance.html). The only change to you is for the HTH coverage, which is less than $1.00/day. Graduate students can contact OSA Program Coordinator Mark Davis for more information at 517-353-8920 or mdavis@msu.edu.
For graduate students engaging in non-credit bearing university sponsored or endorsed international travel (regardless of financial support), a Travel Authorization Form (http://ctlr.msu.edu/download/forms/ex70d.pdf) must be completed by the student’s sponsoring department. From the Travel Authorization Form, the student’s itinerary and emergency contact information, must be entered into the Travelers Database (http://www.isp.msu.edu/resources/travel/emergencyContact.php). Database entry is normally completed by the department’s administrative staff person with oversight for travel.
