RCAH Language Mentor Fellowship Program 2013-2014
The Residential College in the Arts and Humanities (RCAH) at Michigan State University, in collaboration with the Graduate School and the Office of Undergraduate Education, is offering a fellowship program for graduate and undergraduate students who are (near) native speakers in a language other than English and have interests in undergraduate teaching, learning, and/or program development in world language proficiency.
Beginning Fall 2013, the RCAH’s Language Proficiency Program will provide its students additional opportunities to apply and strengthen their knowledge of world languages and cultures in a variety of contexts within the RCAH and the wider community. Language mentors selected for this program will collaborate with faculty, staff, and others in this initiative. Fellowships are $8,000 for an academic year and students can re-apply for a second year. The Fellowship does NOT carry with it tuition reimbursement or benefits. However, it can be held at the same time as a GAship.
Graduate students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, since selection will be made on a rolling basis. Final deadline for applications is September 6, 2013. Five mentors will be chosen for 2013-14, most likely in Spanish, French, and German, with the possibility of one in a less commonly taught language.
Details of the fellowship program, including program description, applicant requirements, and application procedures are in the Call for Applications.
