Volunteer for the upcoming MSU Faculty Technology Showcase 2013
The 2013 MSU Faculty Technology Showcase will take place on Friday, February 22nd, from 11:30 to 1:00. This is the sixth annual event in this series, and is sponsored by the College of Engineering, the College of Education, and the College of Arts and Letters, and the Office of Libraries and IT Services.
Please consider being a presenter at the showcase and share your use of technology in teaching with other faculty in an informal "laptop poster session."
We especially welcome presentations by faculty who have begun using Desire2Learn. As MSU transitions from ANGEL to Desire2Learn, we need to learn from each other and thus experiences of early adopters will be of great interest. We are planning to have representatives of the Desire2Learn transition team present to answer questions at a "Desire2Learn Genius Bar." Presentations on all other topics are encouraged as well... online teaching, use of Clickers, social media, LON-CAPA, etc.
How it works: We begin with a free lunch (for the first 100 participants) in the lobby and lounge areas around room 133 Erickson Hall. Participants who want to show their work then take their designated spots at computer monitors scattered about in several rooms on the first floor of Erickson Hall. Think poster sessions, but with laptop computers instead of physical posters. Bring your own laptop, and use the monitors provided in the rooms. Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m., and the whole thing ends before 1:30 p.m. We are just now in the set up phase for the event.
Sign Up to Present! It's Easy! You or a colleague can sign up in a couple of minutes using the very short form at the MSU Faculty Technology Showcase 2013 Presenter Sign Up: http://goo.gl/OzMMP
TIP: If you work with a grad student on a project, you should consider asking the student to be the presenter or co-presenter.
Last year this event attracted over 100 adventure seekers and gawkers. A huge audience, so be bold and share your work with people in other colleges and departments.
